Corporate Finance

The Corporate Finance Department offers a variety of financial advisory services and assists corporations with the planning, timing and structuring of financings.

The Department manages public offerings of debt and equity securities, private placements, leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions and asset financings.

Corporate Finance consistently ranks in the top ten managers of common stock offerings and in 1984.

The Department ranked fourth in issues of initial public offerings. Corporate clients range from small and medium- sized companies to the nation’s largest corporations and private utilities.

E.F. Hutton’s Public Finance Department is ranked second in the industry, managing over 600 tax-exempt issues totaling $30.5 billion in 1984. The Department’s expertise in municipal bond marketing and a strong distribution network have played a key role in its success.

Investment banking activities are highly integrated with the firm’s institutional and retail sales divisions and secondary market activities. Municipal traders maintain markets in over 100.000 issues and facilitate transactions on many more.

Public Finance bankers must respond quickly to a constantly changing regulatory environment and rapid growth in the financing needs of municipalities.

Hutton’s specialists have pioneered techniques in tax exempt financings including such “firsts” as zero coupon municipal bonds, advanced refunding techniques and variable rate tax exempt bonds.

The department’s banking groups are organized along geographic and specialty group lines. Specialty groups include airport construction, hospital and health care, higher education, state housing, industrial development, resource recovery and public power.
